Weekend Musings

1. Rediscovered my "creative side" at Artist & Display (a fantastic art store in Milwaukee)

2. Randomly mused on the kiss-ability of the Friend's lead actors. If I had to pick one Friends lead male to kiss it would be the "non-puffy" Chandler...who would you pick?

3. Cooked up a BAH (Big Ass Ham). Served it with Roasted Garlic Potatoes.

3. Attended a sex-ed class including a full lesson in edible lotions, lube, and toys this weekend (via a Pure Romance party). We are not in 8th grade sex-ed any more Toto.

4. Enjoyed spending time with the girlies.

5. Watched our backyard turn into a "seasonal swimming pool" courtesy of Mother Nature.

6. Remembered that we still need to regrade our property so that said "pool" no longer forms (this needs to be done this year as standing water up against the house is not cool).

7. Had a blast playing cards and gorging on pizza.

Spring Ahead...

Yesterday morning we were forced to bump our clocks 1 hour ahead due to a little thing called Day Light Savings Time.

You know what that means...

The days are getting longer....and...WARMER.

Adios Jack Frost, hello Springtime!

Happy Monday!

Have a Lovely Weeknd

This weekend brings...
  • A scones, eggs, and sausage breakfast (homemade by Mr. Bird)
  • An art demo
  • A "girlie's night"
  • A card party with Mr. Bird and friends.
What are you up to?

{YOUR NAME HERE}'s Closet Boutique

Did you know that there very well might be a new shop in your town?

Turns out to make a little extra cash, women across the nation are turning their closets into "boutiques" and inviting strangers over (via Craig's List) to "shop".

Think of it like a glorified garage sale. I am not sure how I would feel about having strangers in my home (my mom always taught me not to talk with strangers and I am pretty sure that this rule implies don't invite them into your house, either), But, aside from the whole "strangers" thing, it could be fun, right?

However, be forewarned. If you are thinking of setting up your own "shop" you can't forget about setting up store policies.

Reports one "Closet Shop" owner, "My first customer browsed for about an hour, enjoying the bottled water I provided and ended up purchasing $180 worth of items, all for her adult daughter. Well, she called the next day wanting to return the items because her daughter wasn't interested in wearing used clothing. Luckily, I had clearly stated in the ad, cash sales only, all sale final."

Raptor Obsession

I am probably one of the few people over the age of 12 who still jumps up and down with glee pointing excitedly when I spot a hawk on a telephone pole on the side of the freeway.

You see, the thing is, I have always had a fascination with raptors (aka Birds of Prey...falcons, hawks, eagles, owls). I am intrigued by their beauty and grace which directly contrasts their impeccable and deadly hunting skills.

They are equipped with such advanced aviation and predatory skills that even the most advanced human produced technologies look primitive.

So it is no wonder that I jumped up and down with similar "raptor spotting" glee when I stumbled across these today...

Tuesday Date Night at the Boo-Jay

Last night Mr. Bird (AKA Hubsters :)) and I saw the movie Valkyrie.

Valkyrie is a historical film set in Nazi Germany during WWII and documents the July 20, 1944 plot by German officers to remove Adolf Hitler from power. The July 1944 plot was the last of the 15 attempts to assassinate Adolf Hitler…9 months later he would commit suicide with the Soviet forces at his back door.

The film was very moving. The perspective of documenting the internal politics and workings of the German army during Hitlers regime was fascinating. Furthermore the costuming was stunning and the actors were wonderfully and appropriately cast.

I love history and documentary type films (based on a real story?...sweet!) and this movie did not disappoint.

The Path Less Traveled

The photographs by Courage My Love are so lovely. The epitome of serene, peaceful, yet a little quirky and mysterious.

I first fell in love with Madelyn's photography when I stumbled on Tempest in a Teacup. The colors of the teacups and the movement in this photograph is thrilling...

The after perusing through her lovely Etsy shop I came across this serene image, My Path That is The Endless Mystery of Love. Loving the camera angle.

Finally, I adore, And I Said Yes. Not only is the shot hopelessly romantic but it features one of my all time favorite "non-mind rotting" gamesn (sorry Apples to Apples lovers)...SCRABBLE. Hubsters and I play this game all the time.

Snow By Numbers

13 As in inches of snow dumped on our lovely little street yesterday.

2 As in the number of times we had to shovel (once in the morning and again in the evening).

25 As in the number of times I asked myself yesterday: "Why, again, do I live in Wisconsin?".

3 As in the number of daydreams I had dreaming of living someplace less snowy and cold.

Yesterday, a weather pattern divided Milwaukee, WI. For those by the lake (me) we got hammered with snow due to a phenomenon called "lake effect snow". For those inland, they got nadda, nothing, zip...in fact I heard rumours of blue clear skies.

Inspiration Weekend

I had a fun weekend creating two starBURST Pendant Necklaces inspired by the Twilight books (I just finished the last book, Breaking Dawn this weekend...sigh...what a fantabulous story).

Introducing Twilight and Breaking Dawn.
